A Family Feast – Pickle in a Cup
It looked a lot like an enlightened family kitchen at home getting ready for a big holiday. The Children’s and Parents’ Lunch at Seattle Shambhala brought six families together in cooking up a healthy feast of grapes, apples, oranges, and bananas for a giant fruit salad, frittata, taco salad, and homemade blueberry lemonade…you get the picture.
Before the meal, Ben Hines and Aleana Waite joined the adults and tucked into a conversation about balancing all we do in life, while the the children disappeared upstairs. A few minutes later they returned, in an impromptu “Thank you!” to their mothers and fathers.
Then everyone ate with gusto. Many thanks to all the chefs!
Most of the parents and children are acquainted through the Seattle’s Sunday morning childcare program. Pickle in a Cup may be the first of many feasts together. What do you say?
