This is the third course in the five-part series, Finding Freedom, exploring the profundity of the Hinayana teachings of the Buddha. The Four Noble Truths is used as the overall organizing principle for the series and is threaded through each session. Each of the five courses will be taught by a local Seattle Shambhala teacher (there are no pre-recorded sessions). Course 3 is open to all with no prerequisites.

Course 3: The Second Noble Truth: The Origin of Suffering, Part 2 – The Wheel of Life, Karma, and the Twelve Nidanas

The foundational teachings of the Buddha indicate that the anxiety, fear, depression, and other forms of suffering we experience in our lives can end if we recognize, deeply and profoundly, how that suffering has arisen. This requires gentle bravery and deep contemplation, and means we must be willing to go beyond any previous simplified ideas about how and why our anxiety, fears and suffering have arisen.

Course 3 will be taught by Bob Salskov and will meet five Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8:30 pm on Zoom starting April 17, 2023.

Class 1-- Introduction to Second Noble Truth & Mindfulness of Life
Class 2-- Kunjung of Klesha & Kunjung of Karma
Class 3-- Exploring the Kleshas
Class 4-- The 12 Nidanas: Cause (1-2) and Result (3-7)
Class 5-- 12 Nidanas: Present lifetime (8-10) and Future lifetime (11-12)
Class 6-- The Long View: Buddhist Cosmology and the Six Realms
