Lojong - Make your own Lojong cards + study [Online]
with Meli-Tashi Happy
This course deepens our study of the teachings on the Lojong, Atisha’s famous mind-training slogans.
Students create their own Lojong study cards, similar to those used in daily practice at Gampo Abbey, using available materials - card stock or similar cut into 4 by 6 - or even index cards - with the name of the slogan on the front, and notes from your current studies of those slogans and what comes up during practices on the back. We’ll take a deep dive into some of the most pithy slogans for daily life.
Each class has a dharma talk on the week’s slogans, meditation, contemplation, and group discussion.
Atisha’s slogans invite us to utilize the difficulties and problems we encounter to deepen our path. Rather than seeing the unwanted aspects of life as obstacles, they can be viewed as the raw material necessary for awakening genuine uncontrived compassion, for ourselves and others.
