This course asks the question, "Who am I?" and explores the sense of self. It includes teachings on basic goodness, selflessness, the arising of ego and cocoon, the five skandhas (form, feeling, perception, formation and consciousness), buddha-nature, and the confidence of warriorship.

We will practice contemplative investigations of the self, based on the foundations of mindfulness. This course involves a mix of meditation, talks, experiences, dialogues and discussion. The fresh approach will provide insight for both long time and new students of Shambhala Buddhism.

This is the first course in the "Basic Goodness" series of the Way of Shambhala path of training. Intended for both new and seasoned meditators, the Basic Goodness series introduces the view of Shambhala in an experiential way.

Note: The Basic Goodness series is a new series of classes, and is now a prerequisite for both the Sacred Path series and for Enlightened Society Assembly (ESA).

Prerequisites: None. This program is open to everyone, but we recommend that participants receive meditation instruction in advance at one of our public sittings in which meditation instruction is offered.
