Meditation (Mercer Island Shambhala)

May 21st

Date details +

The Mercer Island Shambhala meditation group offers meditation practice and discussion on Tuesday evenings. Whether you are new to meditation, have been practicing for awhile or something in between, and regardless of religious affiliation, you are welcome to join us.

We offer meditation instruction, group meditation, and a space for discussion and exploration of topics related to our practice in a supportive community in the Shambhala tradition of mindful-awareness: a non-sectarian spiritual tradition rooted in Buddhism. Through our meditation we develop the possibility of meeting our everyday activities with awareness, peace, wisdom, compassion and a sense of humor.

The ongoing, drop-in meditation group meets on Tuesday evenings starting at 7pm at the Emmanuel Church, 4400 86th Avenue Southeast, Mercer Island, Washington in the Chapel: enter at the front door, take the stairs to the right of the door.  The Chapel is the first door on the left at the top of the stairs.  Please bring your own cushion if you have one.  There will also be chairs available for those who don’t have cushions or prefer sitting on a chair.

Our schedule as we begin will be as follows:

    • 7:00 – 7:10 Introductions and meditation instruction
    • 7:10 – 7:45 Group meditation – including walking meditation
    • 7:45 Tea followed by discussion

Note that occasionally there may be a change in the schedule — so it’s always good to check the calendar before you come, to be sure we are meeting on any given Tuesday.

Cost: None. Donations are appreciated to help cover the cost of rent.

Location: Emmanuel Church, 4400 86th Ave SE, Mercer Island, WA 98040
