Midsummer Day Celebration

June 24th (2018)

Date details +

Please join us at the Seattle Shambhala Center for the Midsummer Day celebrations with friends and family. On this occasion, we will delight in being together at our beautiful center that is teaming with flowers, where all our senses come alive as we observe the summer solstice.

The festivities will begin directly following Open House at 12:30pm with a lhasang (a traditional offering of juniper smoke) that purifies the environment and empowers the space, the objects, and the beings within it by invoking awakened energy. We will then enjoy a potluck lunch together. We will fire up the BBQ and provide beverages. Everyone is encouraged to bring something to put on the grill, and anything else you are inspired to share including salads, appetizers, dessert, music, poetry, games and other offerings.

Offerings, such as poems, music, etc., will be presented starting at 2:00 PM.

A seasonal offering - the art of tea ceremony

Parents, children and attendees are invited to a traditional tea ceremony, offered at the change of year. The 45-minute event includes bowing to others, appreciating the environment, and enjoying drinking and eating as a way to reveal the sacredness in everyday activities. Participants are invited to bring their own tea bowl or cup. The tea ceremony starts at 1:30 PM. Please RSVP to Andrea D'Asaro at [email protected] if you wish to participate.

Location: Seattle Shambhala Center, 3107 E Harrison St, Seattle.
