Seeking New Center Director for Seattle Shambhala Center
We are seeking a new Center Director for the Shambhala Center of Seattle to be appointed by Shambhala Day 2016. Would you like to lead a well-supported, dynamic, and growing urban Shambhala center and its six satellite locations? Are you inspired to lead by example, fostering a harmonious, sane, and compassionate community of meditation practitioners dedicated to the Shambhala vision? Do you have confidence in your leadership skills to engage with the greater Seattle community, bring about greater growth at our Center and satellites, and foster greater membership engagement? Mr. Tom Gaylord will be retiring from his post Shambhala Day 2016. Mr. Gaylord has led our community with heartfelt devotion to the lineage of Sakyongs, the Seattle Shambhala community and our mandala over the nearly five years in which he has been the Center Director. Owing in part to his dedication, Seattle has been a leader in supporting the Center of the Mandala through the Unified Giving Model. We have six satellites in and around the greater Seattle area. We have strong leadership, and a well developed financial model that supports the Center’s mortgage, the Center Director’s salary as well as two part-time positions. Tom has been an outstanding leader and a true warrior of Shambhala. ~ KiKiSoSo~
Moving forward, the next Center Director ideally will have:
➢ A minimum of three years experience as a practitioner on the Shambhala path including having attended Enlightened Society Assembly. Attendance at Sacred World Assembly/Vajrayana Seminary and Rigden Abhisheka is a plus.
➢ A strong background in leadership, including familiarity with community engagement processes, social engagement, group work and decision-making skills, and well-developed interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work with conflict in ways that inspire. Is skilled at growing communities and working with transitions of all kinds.
