July 24th

Seattle book launch! The Four Noble Truths of Wealth. This Open House talk will provide a brief introduction, readings, and a discussion of the Buddhist view of wealth, livelihood, and the basis of sustainable prosperity. The talk will immediately follow the regular Thursday Open House meditation from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

From the author: "The way we think about wealth and livelihood affects our personal experience and our world dramatically. Yet we rarely contemplate the heart of prosperity, which may be why it feels like we are always struggling personally, and accelerating toward crisis globally. Buddhism's Four Noble Truths illuminate the foundation of a wealthy outlook, which makes economic life more workable and creates a better world at the same time."

Layth Mathews is a Buddhist teacher and financial consultant based in Victoria, BC. He was Director of the Victoria Shambhala Centre from 2010-2013 and has been practicing, studying, and teaching meditation since 1979. Layth facilitates meditation retreats for contemplative and, increasingly, for organizational groups across North America.

His book will be available for purchase after the talk.

    Prerequisites: None, all are welcome.
